Canadian Ships Start Here
Nova Scotia is working with a number of partners to seize what could be the biggest opportunity for Nova Scotia since confederation.
In response to the National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy, Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is preparing a bid that could represent up to 30 billion dollars in military supply spending over 30 years.
Winning this bid would equate to hosting the Olympics each year for 30 years. It would be a win for Nova Scotia, and a win for Canada.
It would mean 11,500 more jobs for Nova Scotians during peak production. The province’s GDP would grow by an average of $661 million dollars a year, and economic spinoffs would be felt across the province and across the country.
Most importantly, it would mean a new generation of shipbuilders in Nova Scotia, and high-value jobs for our sons and daughters.
This is a rare opportunity for Nova Scotia, and no company is better positioned to meet the federal government’s needs than Irving Shipbuilding.
The Halifax Shipyard has been producing ships since 1889. The Irving Shipyard has built more than 80 per cent of the combat surface fleet. Canada’s next generation of naval ships should be built by the best Canadian-owned shipyard in Canada – Irving Shipbuilding.
We know the best ships in the world are built in Nova Scotia. Visit www.canadianshipsstarthere.ca to spread the word and show your support for Nova Scotia’s bid, for Canada’s bid.
